Olympics Day 4

London Olympics day 4

Lots of talk today about the ticket situation.  Big question "why all the empty seats"?  Corporations and VIP allocation appear to be the biggest culprits.  As of today they are saying if seats are not filled within 30 minutes of the event starting they will reissue tickets to people waiting outside.  Better than nothing but sad it had to come to this.

There is a general perception if you are involved with the team one automatically gets in to watch.  The reality is each swimmer gets 2 tickets for each event they swim in.  They do have the option to purchase two more at face value (approximately $750/per ticket) for a single evening session.

Coaches and sometimes the medical support staff have credentials for the warm up pool.  That means they see the swimmer as they head to the waiting area prior to the race, and watch the race on a tv screen like almost everyone else in the world.

Inside scoop.

The sound at the pool is deafening when the swimmers walk out.  Explains why more than the average are choosing to wear headphones.

They brought extra long beds into the Village for the athletes.  Nice to know those 6' 8" individuals can stretch out for a change.
